Trains of Ashland, Original Art
We have one of the oldest operating train stations in the country right here in my hometown - recently celebrating its 100th anniversary. It’s easy to take something for granted when you’ve grown up around it, but now that I’m raising my own kids here, I see this place with fresh eyes.
I can hear the train from my house at all hours. It’s part of the rhythm of our days. And when I’m out and the crossing gates start to lower, I find myself crossing my fingers that it’s an Amtrak (they’re so much shorter than the freight trains!).
A typical Saturday might mean sitting by the tracks with a beer in hand while a double-stacked CSX rumbles by just a few feet away. It all feels completely normal - until I see a visitor pull out their phone to snap a picture. And in that moment, I’m reminded: this really is something special.
12×18 Original Art, Acrylic on Paper. Frame not included.
